A Tale of Two Leaders

During my lunch hour today, I had the chance to watch as President Trump and Prime Minister Trudeau held a joint press conference. Our President who is “like” a smart person spent his time barely being able to read his notes, and once again ended up sounding like a kid giving a book report on a book he hasn’t read. Behind the other podium, Prime Minister Trudeau stood with confidence and strength. When he spoke, whether it was in English or French, he sounded like a man who knew what he was talking about and actually enjoyed being the leader of a free country.  Our President looked as if he was upset that he was missing the afternoon rerun of Spongebob Squarepants.

Anyway, so what is on my mind tonight? I honestly don’t know whether to laugh or cry at how inept the current administration is. Whether they are bungling some executive order, dealing with possible treasonous accusations against Flynn, or conducting government functions within earshot of hundreds of folks, not associated with the government, during a dinner date. It is honestly scary just how openly awful this administration has already been. IT’S ONLY BEEN 3 WEEKS!!!!

I used to laugh at Bush, he said some strange made up words, messed up common quotes, and seemed to always be just getting a joke long after it had been told. I wasn’t scared of the Bush administration. We could go onto how they got us into not one but two un-winnable wars, but all in all the Bush administration was your basic Republican presidency. The boat wasn’t rocked, the rich got richer, and we had a lot of parades… Pretty much standard stuff. During those years that I laughed, I knew, at least, that President Bush was a relatively intelligent man and was surrounded by other intelligent men. This is not the case today.

The Trump administration is if you took the dumbest kid in your school, I’m not talking about the kid with low test scores. I’m talking about the kid that accidentally set himself on fire during chemistry because he didn’t realize that flammable and inflammable meant the same thing. So you take that kid, and he calls together all the other likeminded kids from other schools and you then form a government around them. Of course you also have the kindly man who attempts to keep them from setting themselves on fire, Reince Priebus, and the guy with the matches sitting in the alley behind a medical waste facility, Steve Bannon, just to keep things interesting. We are living in a Kakistocracy, a government of the worst, and it isn’t going to be getting any better, any time soon.

But it is still a slight step above complete anarchy and so I guess that is something….

Goodnight for now, Happy Tuesday!
